Approaching the California Magic Club in downtown Martinez awakens your sense of wonder. Nestled in a city rich with its own stories, this unique nightspot brings the art of magic to life, right in the heart of the Bay Area. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by festive music from bygone eras, elegant hosts in gowns or tuxedos, and an atmosphere that captures the golden age of nightclub entertainment, all curated by the California Magic family.
Founder and master magician Gerry Griffin has dedicated his life to magic. What began as a childhood passion blossomed into a lifelong mission to enchant audiences, up close and personal. “There’s something truly beautiful about seeing the impossible...” Gerry Griffin.
Gerry opened his first magic shop, Sophisticated Sorcery, in Antioch in 1977. He later expanded to Pleasant Hill and eventually transformed the business into the full-scale dinner theater experience known as California Magic Club.
Griffin’s performances have taken him from Contra Costa restaurants to high-profile gigs across Northern California, Lake Tahoe, Reno, and Los Angeles—including the Playboy Mansion. His work has also been featured on TV and influenced street magician David Blaine.
Through it all, Gerry's wife Laura has been a driving force behind the dream. Together, they built a venue that blends fine dining, magical ambiance, and unforgettable entertainment in an intimate setting alive with vintage charm and magic memorabilia.
Live, up-close, and personal—California Magic Club is more than a show. It's an experience. At California Magic Club, you're not just watching magic, you’re part of it. From the moment you enter, you’re transported to a different era, where velvet curtains, candlelit tables, and the soft hum of vintage music set the scene. As you dine, magicians perform just inches from you, transforming everyday objects into moments of pure astonishment. This isn’t a theater where you're watching from afar.
This is intimate magic, delivered table-to-table, eye-to-eye, and heart-to-heart. The laughter is real, the gasps are genuine, and the wonder is unforgettable. Each show is a carefully crafted journey, blending gourmet dining with world-class sleight of hand and storytelling that amazes audiences of all ages. It’s not just a night out, it’s a magical memory in the making.
Voted the Bay Area's best place to eat, drink, and be amazed, California Magic Club offers magic the way it should be served with dinner and a touch of wonder. The impossible isn't just performed at California Magic Club, it's plated alongside your dinner and poured with your drink. We've reimagined the classic night out by blending fine dining, vintage ambiance, and world-class magic into one unforgettable evening.
Guests come for the food, thoughtfully prepared, three-course meals served in an elegant supper club setting. They stay for the experience, up-close illusions, laughter shared between strangers, and stage magic that stirs your imagination. The night makes you forget the outside world and rediscover your sense of wonder.
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or need an escape from the ordinary, California Magic Club delivers an evening that’s as magical as it is mouthwatering..
